Born on a farm, spent the first 18 years of my life on a farm. Started programming at 13. Did a YTS in IT at 16. Worked at a cheese dairy from age 18-22, while doing my A'levels. Crashed my car (Metro) at 18, spent 6 week in a wheel chair. At 22 moved to London to do my BSc in AI. Spent 2 months backpacking round Europe at 24. Got a part time job writing CGI programs for Radio1 at 24. Did some part time work writing screen savers at 25. Spent the summer writing 10,000 lines of java code for my Uni project. Graduated age 26 with a BSc in Applied Computing. Spent 2 years creating e-commerce programs for a big corporate. Started my PhD on Neighbourhood Search move operators, aged 28. Met a Japanese girl in London at 32 Spent my 33rd birthday in Japan, Kyoto with Masako. Completed my PhD 4.5 years later on Neighbourhood Search, search controls. Moved to Japan aged 33 to start a Post Doc in Software Engineering.
